CHOOSING THE RIGHT CHAIN

Please note that “gold” here refers to all colors: yellow, white, and rose

GOLD PLATE(D)
Gold plated chain is a very thin layer (0.05%) of gold layered over a base metal, usually brass or copper. This is the type of jewelry most likely to turn your skin green, and therefore completely unsuitable for permanent jewelry. We do not offer it because of the low quality.

GOLD FILL(ED)
Gold filled chain is a solid layer of 14k gold (or higher) permanently mechanically bonded to a base (usually jeweler’s brass or copper). Gold filled chain has 100x more gold than gold plated chain. Since the gold can’t rub off, it’s an excellent, affordable choice for permanent jewelry that will last for years. We offer many styles of gold fill chain.

14 KARAT GOLD
This is the best option for permanent jewelry.  Sometimes called solid gold.  This is almost true. Because gold is a soft metal, it must be mixed or alloyed with other metals to give it strength and durability. The higher the karat, the softer the finished product.

14 karat gold chain provides the ideal mix of strength and beauty for permanent jewelry. We offer several styles of 14k yellow and white gold chain.
